The WEF Celebrates Black History Month at John Handley High School

The Winchester Education Foundation was proud to attend this year’s Black History Month assembly at John Handley High School. This assembly was organized by

members of the Black Student Union, and it included a panel discussion, music and a celebration of the many inventions that were created by Black scientists and inventors.

Our Executive Director Larry Weiss was present to honor two outstanding students with the 2025 Winchester Education Foundation Black History Month award. This award is specified to acknowledge John Handley High School students of African American heritage and invest in their future with the support of local donors who have the same desire and mission.

Please congratulate our 2025 winners, Blessed Makqhamadze and Emeryce Worrell.
